Closing of Nane Nane 2020: Government thanks SUA for assisting in testing samples of COVID 19 suspects

The Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Hon. Ummy Mwalimu on 8th August, 2020 thanked Sokoine University of Agricultre and its experts for their great support in the fight against COVID 19.

Hon. Mwalimu made the remarks during her visit to the Sokoine University of Agricultre pavilion at the nane nane agricultural shows in the eastern zone held in Morogoro region before the official closing of the exhibition.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire SUA Management and its Researchers for the great support you provided during the COVID 19 fight by assisting in the testing of various patient samples. We certainly have every reason to thank you for your great efforts and supports." Said Hon. Mwalimu.

She added: "While we were struggling with the testing of samples from all over the country, you helped us a lot to reduce the burden of testing those samples in National Laboratory after you also proved that you can do this work at acceptable standards".

Minister Mwalimu visited various exhibition booths and witnessed various technologies and techniques for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries before the official closing of the Nane Nane Farmers' Fair in the Eastern zone.

While at the SUA pavilion, she saw various laboratory equipment and specialists who participated in the exercise and Testing of samples of suspects with COVID 19.

The Minister also had the opportunity to see nutritionists and entrepreneurs from SUA who produce various products from nutritional products and asked them to start packing their products for small buyers at affordable prices so that even children can buy for less money.

The Farmers' Fair is being held in various zones and started on 1/8/2020 and culminated on 8/8/2020 but the Government has extended two days to provide more opportunities for more people to learn and also exhibitors to do their business.

Sokoine University of Agriculture as a major stakeholder in agriculture, livestock and fisheries participated in the national exhibition at Simiyu as well as zonal exhibitions which was  held in Morogogoro Region.
The exhibition carried the slogan "For Agricultural Development, Livestock and Fisheries Choose the Best Leaders for 2020"
