SUA encouraged to continue cooperation with religious groups

Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) has been asked to continue to work with various religious leaders and groups so as to maintain unity and harmony at the university.

That was stated by the Secretary of the Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA) in Morogoro region, Ust. Ahmad Khairallah representing the Sheikh of Morogoro region during the Iftar dinner organized for SUA Muslim community members held at the Multipurpose Hall located at the Edward Moringe Campus (main campus) on Friday 07 May 2021.

Ust.Khairallah said that it is good for SUA when it has important events to involve religious leaders as their contribution and presence matters alot and can help solve various university challenges.

"I ask that the unity and cooperation that exists between us will continue not only in this Iftar event but in other events even academic as religious leaders have a lot of things to advise and share with students" said Ust. Khairallah

Initially giving the word of welcome on behalf of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Raphael Chibunda, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Maulid Mwatawala said the event was aimed at improving relations between the SUA Muslim community and the community at large as well as highlighting the importance of the holy month of Ramadan.

Prof. Mwatawala said that the Holy month of Ramadan carries with it a variety of lessons, including being honest, doing good, and showing love to the community around us, so the community should continue to apply these teachings all the time, not just during the month of Ramadan.

"On behalf of the management of the university, I ask SUA staff to apply these teachings you received in this Holy month of Ramadan in your public and daily activities so that we can live well," said Prof. Mwatawala

Giving a word of thanks, the Imam of SUA mosque Ust. Said Msuya thanked the Sokoine University of Agriculture Management for organizing the event which brought the Muslim community and other SUA community members to worship and celebrate together as it is a good thing and shows genuine love.

"This is a sign that SUA live well with the community and I pray for this cooperation and unity to continue and be maintained all the time and if there are any shortcomings in this event then I ask for improvements to be made at the next event" said Ust. Msuya
