SUA makes appointments of new Principals, Dean and Directors

The management of Sokoine University of Agriculture wishes to inform all community members and stakeholders of the University that on June 26, 2020, the University Chancellor, Hon. Judge (Retired) Joseph Sinde Warioba made the appointment of Principals of College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism and Solomon Mahlangu College of Science and Education.

Similarly, the University Council during its 159th Meeting which was held on June 25, 2020 made the appointments of the Dean of the School of Agricultural Economics and Business Studies and Directors of Directorate of Postgraduate Studies, Research, Technology Transfer and Consultancy, Directorate of Undergraduate Studies, SUA Pest Management Center, Sokoine National Agricultural Library and Centre for Information and Communication Technology for the period of three years from July 1, 2020 to 30 June, 2023 as follows: -

  1. Dr. Suzana Augustino
    Chancellor appointed Dr. Suzana Augustino in the position of Principal of College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism. Dr. Suzana holds a PhD in Forestry (Medicinal Plants) from Bangor University, Wales, UK since 2006. Dr. Suzana is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Forestry Engineering and Wood Sciences and Director of Directorate of Undergraduate Studies, the position she held from July 2017 to present. She has also served as Head of the Department of wood utilization (2014 - 2017). Dr. Suzana is a member of various Management and Professional Board and Committees within and outside the University 
     
  2. Dr. Geoffrey K. Karugila
    Chancellor appointed Dr. Geoffrey K. Karugila in the position of Principal of Solomon Mahlangu College of Science and Education. Dr. Geoffrey K. Karugila holds a PhD in Mathematical Physics from the University of Antwerp, Belgium since 2004. Dr. Karugila served in various positions at SUA including Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science (2008 - 2014), Head of the Department of Biometry and Mathematics (2005 - 2011) and Acting Director of the Solomon Mahlangu Campus (2009). Dr. Karugila is a member of various Management and Professional Board and Committees within and outside the University
     
  3. Dr. Damas Philip
    Council appointed Dr. Damas Philip in the position of Dean of the School of Agricultural Economics and Business Studies. Dr. Damas holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Bonn, German. Dr. Damas is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Food and Resource Economics. Dr. Philip also served in the capacity of Deputy Dean of the School of Agricultural Economics and Business Studies (2016 - 2017), Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (2011 - 2014), Acting Director of Planning and Development (February - July, 2017) and Acting Manager, income generation unit (2017). Prior to joining the Sokoine University of Agriculture, Dr. Philip worked at the Tanzanian Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH). Dr. Philip is a member of various Management and Professional Board and Committees within and outside the University
     
  4. Prof. Esron D. Karimuribo
    Council re-appointed Prof. Esron D. Karimuribo in the position of Director of the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies, Research, Technology Transfer and Consultancy. Prof. Karimuribo is a Professor of Epidemiology at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He holds a PhD in Epidemiology from University Reeding, UK since 2002. Prof. Karimuribo has been re-appointed for a second term after holding the post since 2017. He  served as Head of the Department of Medicine (2016 - 2017) and Head of SUA Animal Referral Hospital (2008 - 2010). Prof. Karimuribo is a member of various Management and Professional Board and Committees within and outside the University
     
  5. Dr. Nyambilila A. Amuri
    Council appointed Dr. Nyambilila A. Amuri in the position of Director of Undergraduate Studies. Dr. Nyambilila holds a PhD in Soil Science from the University of Arkansas. She is the Senior lecturer and Head of the Department of Soil and Geological Sciences from 2017 to the present. She has also served as Deputy Director of Research (2016 -2017) and Research Coordinator (2017 to date). Dr. Nyambilila is a member of various Management and Professional Board and Committees within and outside the University.
     
  6. Dr. Ladslaus L. Mnyone
    Council re-appointed Dr. Ladslaus L. Mnyone in the position of Director of SUA Pest Management Center. Dr. Mnyone holds a PhD in Medical Entomology from the University of Wageningen, Netherlands. He is a Senior Researcher and Director of the SUA Pest Management Center since 2017. He has been re-appointed to the post for the second term after serving the first three years. He has also served as Deputy Director of the Center (2014-2017). 
    Dr. Mnyone is a member of various Management and Professional Board and Committees within and outside the University
     
  7. Prof. Camilius A. Sanga
    Council appointed Prof. Camilius A. Sanga in the position of Director of the Sokoine National Agricultural Library. Sanga is a Professor of Informatics since 2017. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. He served as Head of the Department of Informatics (2011-2017). Prof. Sanga is a member of various Management and Professional Board and Committees within and outside the University.
     
  8. Dr. Ayubu J. Churi
    Council re-appointed Dr. Ayubu J. Churi in the position of Director of the Centre for Information and Communication Technology. Dr. Churi holds a PhD in Information Systems from Sokoine University of Agriculture since 2014. He has been re-appointed to hold the post for the second time after serving in the position since 2017. He has also served as Acting Director of the Center (2016 - 2017), Head of the Department of Educational Technologies (2014-2017) and Deputy Director of the Center (2013-2016). Dr. Churi is a member of various Management and Professional Board and Committees within and outside the University.
