Electronic Documents Management For Librarians, Records managers and Archivists

Event Summary

This workshop aims at equipping librarians, information professionals, records managers, and archivists with the necessary skills and knowledge required for managing electronic documents and records for better functioning of their institutions towards the delivery of information resources and services. It aims at providing practical hands-on training to understand the technical underpinnings and practical application of digitization and handling electronic documents in the library and archival services environments.

Objectives of the training

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Familiarize with the technical underpinnings of digitisation, including capture methods, file formats, compression methods, etc.
  • Have an awareness of the complete digitisation life cycle
  • Create metadata for facilitating storage and retrieval of documents
  • Upload documents into electronic documents management systems
  • Manage electronic documents using various electronic documents management systems
  • Understand legal and professional issues surrounding management of electronic documents.

  • It is expected that at the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Plan and organize digitization projects for libraries, records centres, and archival collections
  • Create metadata elements for the digitization of electronic documents
  • Apply various digitization techniques and processes 
  • manipulate various technologies to digitize electronic documents based on material types and formats
  • Manipulate various information systems in storing and facilitating access to electronic documents
  • Handle electronic documents with an understanding on their legal and professional implications

Librarians, records managers, archivists and other information professionals involved in digitization of electronic documents and other information resources

Workshop Cost
The workshop cost is 500,000 TZS. Costs cover workshop fees, breakfast, lunch and certificates of attendance. 

Course Duration
The course will take place from 20th – 24th June 2022 (5 days). 

Venue
The Training Workshop is expected to be conducted at Sokoine University – Edward Moringe Campus(MAIN CAMPUS), Morogoro, Library Seminar Rooms.

Payments should be made through SUA ICT Consulting Bureau CRDB Bank: 0150369072400 SUA ITCB Bank account. Bank payment slips should be presented during registration, ITCB will provide all participants with an EFD receipt.

Reminder

  1. Tuition Fees (full) may be paid before or on the same day of training commencement 
  2. Participants will be responsible for their travel and upkeeping cost 
  3. Participants should confirm their attendance four (4) days before commencement of the training for easy arrangement and management of the training.
