Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) Innovation Hub celebrates a major milestone after three of its student startups emerged as national winners in the Youth Ignite Student Founders Fellowship Cohort 2.
SUA Innovation Hub Celebrates Triple Victory at National Youth Ignite Student Founders Competition
Out of over 1,000 student teams from 10 universities nationwide, only 30 were selected to reach the final stage. SUA Innovation Hub had three startups among the finalists: Snack Squad, Eco Mushroom Tanzania, and Zest Plus. The founders underwent intensive entrepreneurship training and mentorship during a bootcamp in Dar es Salaam (Nov–Dec 2025).
At the national pitching competition held on 30 January 2026 at Johari Rotana, SUA students delivered exceptional results:
• Snack Squad – Grand Winner (TZS 6,000,000)
• Eco Mushroom Tanzania – Grand Winner (TZS 6,000,000)
• Zest Plus – 1st Runner-Up (TZS 4,000,000)
The winning startups focus on reducing agricultural waste, promoting sustainable food production, and providing affordable plant-based nutrition.
This achievement underscores SUA Innovation Hub’s strong leadership in nurturing innovative, impact-driven student entrepreneurs who contribute to Tanzania’s economic development.
