During the event, the AAU commended SUA and other universities that ranked among the top 30 institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In East Africa, SUA is ranked fifth, following the University of Nairobi, Makerere University, University of Dar es Salaam and Kenyatta University.

The QS ranking considers indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, research output, and other performance measures. In this edition, SUA performed strongly in Papers per Faculty, Citations per Paper, and the Faculty–Student Ratio, indicating strong research productivity and favourable staffing levels.

SUA was represented at the event by Prof. Maulid Mwatawala, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic, Research and Consultancy, who received the certificate on behalf of the University.

This first appearance in the QS rankings provides an important benchmark for the University as it continues to strengthen its teaching, research and overall institutional performance.
