Kudos to SUA Graduates for seizing opportunities in Agripreneurship

Agri-Ajira Youth Company is a group of young graduates who completed their studies at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). They are Agripreneurs engaged in modern agriculture farming under the funding and support from Petrobena East Africa Company LTD.

On July 11, 2019 in the presence of the Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office responsible for Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and the Disabled, Hon. Anthony Mavunde; the Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture Prof. Raphael Chibunda, Kilosa District Commisioner, Hon. Adam Mgoyi, Acting Director of the Tanzania Seed Agency (ASA), Dr Sophia Kashenge-Killenga, Director of the Petrobena East Africa company LTD, Mr. Peter Kumalilwa and other stakeholders participated in the harvesting of the 50 acres of rice farm owned by Agri-Ajira located in Mambegwa at Kilosa District in Morogoro.

Among other things, Deputy Minister Mavunde congratulated Agri-Ajira Youth for their passion and great work they have done to obtain such success and he insisted that the Government will continue to support Youth through the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) to expand their farming projects. Hon. Mavunde also commended Sokoine University of Agriculture for being an institution that responds to the challenges faced by Tanzanians including unemployment faced by youth and graduates.

There are huge business opportunities for graduated Tanzanian youths in agriculture and agribusiness. Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) is helping youth to invest in agricultural production and the agricultural value chain through various Programmes such as SUA/PASS entrepreneurs incubation center and Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) which has been established to help graduates and the young entrepreneurs to establish and develop various businesses in Agricultural sector.

It is worth mentioning that Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) is offering courses and programmes in both full-time and part-time modes which help entrepreneurs to combine their love of farming and Agriculture with an acquired professional business approach. You can apply now to study (starting on October 2019) a three years, Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness or two years Master of Business Administration in Agribusiness programmes.
