Ukerewe District Council in Mwanza Region has promised to continue to support the efforts of the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) to produce more seedlings after bought 10,000 fruit seedlings. The seedling purchased aimed at raising the income of the people in the Council but also to support environmental protection and climate change mitigation as it have been advocated by the Government. Apart from this, the Council aimed to safeguard the greening initiatives by planting more trees in order to preserve the environment and water sources but also promote self- employment.

Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) has received praise from the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Culture and Sports for its work in producing quality professionals through practical training, as well as adding value to agricultural products and production. The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, expressed his satisfaction with SUA's implementation of its duties during a recent visit to the University.
