Dr. Chiwamba also noted that the Desk operates under a government initiative led by the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, headed by Honorable Dr. Dorothy Gwajima.

During the event, the AAU commended SUA and other universities that ranked among the top 30 institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In East Africa, SUA is ranked fifth, following the University of Nairobi, Makerere University, University of Dar es Salaam and Kenyatta University.
