Sokoine University of Agriculture Celebrates 34th Graduation Ceremony

On Friday, 23rd November 2018, students, staff, family members of the graduates, friends, Government representatives and members of the general public gathered together at Nelson Mandela Freedom Square located in Solomon Mahlangu Campus in Mazimbu, Morogoro to celebrate the success of the 2017/2018 graduates who completed their PhDs, Masters degrees, Bachelor degrees, Diploma and Certificate programmes in a diverse range of subjects offered at Sokoine University of Agriculture.

The Audience saw graduates from the College of Agriculture (CoA), College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS), College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism (CFWT), College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH), Solomon Mahlangu College of Science and Education (SMCoSE), School of Agricultural Economics and Business Studies (SAEBS),Sokoine National Agricultural Library (SNAL) and The Centre for Information and Communication Technologies (CICT) receiving their degree certificates – conferred by University Chancellor Hon. Joseph Sinde Warioba.

During the conferment, All PhD graduates came forward one by one and were introduced by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Peter Gillah while the Masters and postgraduate diploma graduates stood up one by one after being introduced by Director for Postgraduate Studies, Research, Technology Transfer and Consultancy Prof. Esron Karimuribo and finally all Bachelor degrees, Diploma and Certificate graduates stood up together by programmes after being introduced by their respective College Principals, Dean of School and Directors.

In this year, a total of 2793 students were awarded various degree qualifications offered by Sokoine University of Agriculture whereby 1919 are Men and 874 Women. Out of 2793 graduates, 50 students received Doctor of philosophy (PhD) degrees (whereby Men = 36 and Women = 14), 123 students received Masters degrees (whereby Men = 77 and Women = 46) , 7 students received Postgraduate Diploma in Education (whereby Men = 3 and Women = 4), 2371 received bachelor degrees (whereby Men = 1669 and Women = 702 and 242 students received Diploma and Certificate programs (whereby Men = 234 and Women = 108).
