The Department of Food Technology, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in collaboration with Wageningen University and Research (WUR) through the LIQUID project will be conducting a three days training workshop from 5th-7th February, 2019 on Quality and Safety in Dairy Value Chain at SUA.
Potential participants are postgraduate students and young researchers in food science/safety, public health, animal science, agribusiness and related fields. The training is free, there will be refreshments, lunches, drinks and a training closing dinner. No per diems and reimbursement of transport costs.
Only 25 participants will be selected on merits and first-come-first-served basis.

Dr. Jos Bijman is an Associate Professor of Cooperative Organisations, at the Business Management & Organisation Group (WUR). His research focus is on organisational innovation in food value chains, with special atten- tion to horizontal collaboration among agricultural producers in formal and informal producer organisations.
Dr. Pieternel Luning is an Associate Professor of " Food Quality Manage- ment" at the Food Quality & Design (PDQ) group (WUR). Her teaching and research activities relate to the techno-managerial approach in analysing and solving problems in food quality management systems along the food supply chain .
Dr. Kasper Hettinga is an Associate Professor of “Dairy protein biochemis- try” at PDQ group (WUR). His teaching as well as research is related to milk composition and quality along the dairy production chain.
MSc. James Ledo is a PhD candidate in Food quality management of the PDQ group (WUR). His research is focused on using Techno-managerial research approach to understand quality control systems in emerging milk supply chains for targeted interventions for milk quality and safety.
MSc. Mercy Mwambi is a PhD student at the Business Management and Organisation Group (WUR). Her research interests include innovations in farmer collaborative approaches and value chain.
MSc. Simon Nyokabi is a PhD candidate of the Animal production systems group (WUR). His research focus is on improving milk quality of smallholder farmers in Kenya, and how to improve food safety in livestock value chains.
