Continous Professional Development (CPD) Course in Equine

The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) through Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Pathology in partnership with the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA) (https://spana.org/) will organize two days CPD in Equine on 25th-26th July, 2018. Target group is all Veterinarians working at SUA.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: James W. Carpenter, MS, DVM, Dipl. ACZM, is a Professor of Zoological Medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University based in Manhattan, United States of America. He has been a clinical and research veterinarian for over 40 years in the field of exotic animal, wildlife (including endangered species), and zoo animal medicine, has assisted in developing an internationally-recognized program in Zoological Medicine at KSU, and has trained 41 Interns and Residents. He is the author of over 375 scientific papers and proceedings articles, and is Co-editor of Ferrets, Rabbits, and Rodents: Clinical Medicine and Surgery (2012) and is the Editor of the Exotic Animal Formulary (2018).  Dr. Carpenter is the Past-President of: the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians, the Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the American College of Zoological Medicine.  He is also the former Editor of the Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery.

Short course on chicken enterprise development in Tanzania: A Value Chain Approach

Under the coordination of Dr. Joseph Longo, the course will be facilitated by a combination of experienced chicken value chain practitioners and academicians. Therefore participant will meet managers from the chicken feed sector, chicken farms and chicken slaughter houses.

The course consists of lectures, group exercises and field visits. The course is structured around chicken value chain with a focus on chicken production and husbandry, processing and distribution of chicken and chicken products

The participation fees is Tshs 50,000/= which covers training handouts, evening tea, lunch, and field visits. Participants will cover their own travel and accomodation expenses
