The Department of Model Training Farm (DMTF) through the Pasture Management Units is showcasing practical livestock husbandry techniques to local communities, emphasizing the business aspect. This success is largely attributed to the established diverse pastures like Bracharia ruziziensis, Cenchrus ciliaris, Chloris gayana, Pennisetum purpureum, Juncao grass, and Guatemala grass, and more.

On April 29, 2024, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) welcomed a delegation of the Heads of Mission of the European Union. The ten-member delegation included Christine Grau, Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Tanzania and the East Africa Community, along with ambassadors from Belgium, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Ireland, as well as the Deputy Ambassador of France.

Sokoine University of Agriculture, has launched a four-year Research Project tilted “Mobility in Innovative Green Technologies for Climate Change Mitigation and Sustainable Bioeconomy (Mabadilishano ya Ubunifu wa Teknolojia Kijani Kukabili Mabadiliko ya Tabianchi kwa Uchumi Hai Endelevu) (MUTKKMTUHE)”. The major aim of the project is to advance knowledge of green technologies in Africa and increase scholars’ capacity in addressing climate change mitigation and sustainable bioeconomy. The project was launched on 26th April 2024 at the College of Natural and Applied Sciences.
