Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has praised Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) for its dedication and commitment to giving students practical experience in their fields of study. Declaring that this is the direction the 6th phase government of the United Republic of Tanzania is heading in.

Today, Vice Chancellor Prof. Raphael Chibunda reflects on Mwalimu Nyerere's vision to advance the agriculture sector in Tanzania so that the country could produce enough food. He also wanted to ensure that there are enough experts in agriculture to help farmers solve their challenges.

The Vegi-Leg project aims to safeguard nutrition security for the local population in Tanzania (Lindi) and Mozambique by supporting the development of processing technologies to improve the nutrient quality of products and the perennial availability of pigeon peas and indigenous vegetables.
